Hello All-
Wednesday, we will be chatting with Kyle Sieck and company from the UI Environmental Coalition. This group came on as my first guest at the beginning of the semester. It was a great show, but it was also the same day of a huge snow storm, and I don't know how many listeners were able to receive the show as the KRUI antennae tends to freeze up on those occasions and limits our broadcasting ability. And what's more, environmental issues are a major concern to anyone who's been paying attention to the ever-worsening condition of our planet; ideas on how to make a real change are more important than ever.
We will be covering the following topics (and more!):
And FINALLY- an mp3 of one of the shows! I thought I would never see the day...
The interview with Friends of Iowa Midwives was amazing and a true joy to do. I hope you check it out if you weren't able to hear it the first time. As the file is to big to be uploaded directly onto Vox.com, you can click here to download it and listen to it for free. Just click where it says "Click here to start download..." You *don't* have to sign up for an account to do this.

Hello all-
For those of you who had spring break, I hope it was enjoyable!
This week we will be talking to two different groups.
In the first half hour, Juniper Alcorn will be talking about the Farm Animals Welfare Network group whose purpose is "to provide a resource and activity group for University of Iowa students and community members concerned about the mistreatment of animals in factory farms."
In
the second half, Keri George will join us as we discuss the Week of Reflection
(aka Peace Week), which is happening right now, and other activities and
projects that the UI Antiwar group will be participating in.

Looks like mid-terms are going to win out in the battle for time this week. However, I will be playing music for that hour, so you are welcome to join me nonetheless.
Juniper
from Farm Animal Welfare
Network (FAWN) asked me to pass along an upcoming event for them. I will
have them on the air March 26th.

Hello all~
So the show with Brianna and Keith from Invisible Children in Iowa City went well. I felt a bit awkward at moments as it was such new information to me, but that is one of the reasons why I do this show- so that I become more aware and educated about what is going on in our world while helping promote the causes discussed.
Unfortunately, I had some technical
difficulties in trying to record the show- using a different software program.
So sadly, once again, I don't have an mp3 to share with those who were not able
to hear the show. My apologies- me and buttons, not always on the best terms.
I don't have anyone scheduled for this Wednesday as of yet; maybe that will
change before next week starts.
Other than that, I do have two groups scheduled for after Spring Break. On Wed, the 26th we have the UI Farm Animal Welfare Network (FAWN), and hopefully,Friends of Iowa Midwives on April 2nd. If that changes I will certainly let you all know.

Hello everyone!
This
week I will be interviewing Brianna Berendes from the group, Invisible Children
at Iowa City.
This is a new organization on campus that is raising funds and awareness for
the two million displaced people of Uganda from "Africa's longest running, yet
least reported, conflict." In Uganda,
the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) (an anti-gov't rebellion) is responsible for
inflicting "terrifying violence on the population" and abducting
"tens of thousands of children and at clandestine bases, terrorized them
into virtual slavery as guards, concubines, and soldiers" (http://www.childrenofuganda.org/about_Uganda.html).
This is a very complex story but we will do our best to cover the information
on it during the show.
Here is a short video that will give you a good idea what Invisible Children is all about:
Please note that if the broadcasting tower is frozen (which has been happening alot lately) this show will be rescheduled.
Hello all-
The show with Kyle and Ben was amazing. It was such a great interview and so many topics were covered, including permaculture and a little bit on bio-mimicry. I loved talking with both of these guys. The only frustrating part is that the mp3 software decided it was done recording our show after about 2 minutes into the interview. Sadly, there is nothing I can do about this but use a different program in the future. However, as a way to ease this disappointment, I plan on inviting the group back onto the show one or two weeks prior to Earth Day- so if you missed the show, it won't be a total loss. By that time all the technical "bugs" should be resolved.
This coming week's show, I hope to interview the group, Invisible Children at Iowa City. This group
spreads awareness about the ongoing crisis in Uganda,
and also holds fundraisers and rallies to raise money for Invisible Children Inc.
If the interview line-up changes, I will give an update as soon as possible.
